In
order to provide state-of-the-art bariatric
surgical care, an institution must assemble
and coordinate a team of specialists from
a variety of disciplines. Assisting the
bariatric surgeon in evaluation and preparation
of the patient are the nutrition specialist,
the psychiatric social worker and various
medical specialists. Treatments are rendered
by the surgeon and his operating room
team, comprised of nurses, technologists
and anesthesiologists, all of whom have
been selected for their special interest
in, and experience with, the bariatric
patient. |
