Each year, more than 1,000 men, women, and young adults from the Queens community provide volunteer service to New York Hospital Queens.  Our volunteers take pride in the high quality of service that they provide to our patients and staff.  Join them in enjoying the rewards of personal growth and fulfillment as you:

If you are energetic and dependable, and ready to join this exceptional group, please read the statements below.

• I am 16 years of age or older
• I live within the borough of Queens and/or work or attend school in Queens
• I can commit to a minimum of one 4-hour shift per week for a minimum of six months
• I have a valid Social Security number or valid Student Identification number
• I have not been convicted of a felony 
• My private physician will be able to complete a required medical form

How to Apply 

1. View the Volunteer Programs and Opportunities link to find one that is of interest to you.  Be sure that your time availability matches the schedule posted for the assignment you choose.
2. Once you have made your choice, complete the online Volunteer Application.  Only online applications will be considered for all volunteer programs and opportunities.

Important note about your application:

Due to the high volume of applications that we receive, we are unable to respond to every applicant.  We will respond within fourteen business days only to those we consider to be good matches for the programs that have openings at the time of the application.

If you do not hear from us within fourteen days, please do not reapply and please do not call our office after submitting an initial application.

If you are selected, you contact and emailed a packet which contains important information for finalizing the volunteer hiring process.  Once the packet is completed, the original packet must be returned in person to the Office of the Volunteers.

Once your packet is handed in, you will be required to attend either an in-person orientation or an online orientation.  You may also be required to have additional training and medical clearance based on your assignment choice. 

When all requirements are completed, you will be scheduled to begin service.
