Radiation Oncology

The Department of Radiation Oncology provides a full range of services in a spacious and caring environment. Its board-certified physicians are supported by a highly trained team of medical and brachytherapy physicists and technologists. The External Beam Service utilizes three high energy linear accelerators with electron beam and X-ray capabilities, including multileaf collimation. A dual-energy, ultramodern computer-controlled unit can carry out highly sophisticated treatment plans. The Brachytherapy Service has an international reputation for being at the cutting edge in the application of existing treatment and the development of new modalities. Among the sophisticated radioactive implant procedures are several unique to The New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens.
