About the Director and Staff
The
Cardiac Health Center is an education and training facility developed by
New York Hospital Queens. It was created especially for people who have
had a heart attack, heart surgery, balloon angioplasty,
or angina, and was designed to improve health status and reduce the
potential for future cardiac events among all at risk.
The Center's program is recommended for people with a high-risk profile for heart disease, as well as those with known heart disease who want to improve their cardiovascular health. The Center's goal is to understand and support patients while helping them regain the confidence needed to return to excellent physical health after a cardiac event.
Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 cause of disability and death. Early detection and early treatement is the most important way to manage cardiovascular disease. Studies show that a high majority of individuals can remain heart healthy by following a proper diet and exercise program, along with a routine health care plan and the elimination of tobacco products. The Cardiac Health Center's education programs in nutrition and exercise can help many individuals make the lifestyle changes they need for a heart healthy future.
The Cardiac Health Center offers a wide spectrum of rehabilitation and lifestyle services.
A
12-week treatment program tailored to your specific needs,
carefully monitored and medically supervised
As important as effective treatment techniques are to success in battling heart disease, programs devoted to rehabilitation and the modification of risky behaviors are just as essential. The Cardiac Health Center provides resources that are unique in the borough of Queens
