Chong H. Park, M.D., F.A.C.C., Promoted to Director of Cardiology

FLUSHING, N.Y., May 18, 2009 – Terence M. Brady M.D., Chairman of the Department of Medicine at New York Hospital Queens, announces the appointment of Chong H. Park M.D. as Director of the Division of Cardiology.

Dr. Park joined the NYHQ medical staff in July 2008, as director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory in the Heart and Vascular Center.  A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Park is board certified in three specialties: internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.  He came to NYHQ from Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where he was an interventional cardiologist for five years, participating in clinical research and teaching medical residents and fellows. 

Dr. Park has been Acting Director of the Division of Cardiology since July 2008 and will also remain Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.  He is a highly trained and skilled specialist, as well as an energetic and enthusiastic leader, who has been instrumental in advancing the continued development of the Heart and Vascular Center.  In his expanded role as Director of the Division of Cardiology, he will be pivotal in collaborative efforts with the hospital’s vascular surgeons and interventional radiologists to create a truly comprehensive and integrated program for every type of circulatory illness.  This state-of-the-art approach will ensure that the people of Queens have access to care here that is found at the leading heart and vascular centers. 

Dr. Park is a graduate of Cornell University, and received his medical degree from New York Medical College.  He completed his internal medicine and cardiology training at Long Island Jewish, where he also completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology.  He was an attending cardiologist there for five years, and director of peripheral vascular intervention.
