Cutting Edge Science and Medical Treatment Advances to be Presented at Two Upcoming Professional Forums

Flushing, New York - As part of the institution’s ongoing commitment to continuing medical education, New York Hospital Queens presents conferences on Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Thoracic (Chest) Cancer.

Each of the forums will feature national and local specialists and is expected to generate information that will be valuable to area health care providers – helping them to understand the most effective treatment techniques and options to manage significant diseases that affect their patients.

The upcoming programs:

Management of Flow, Care & Safety in the Pediatric Emergency Room - October 25, 2007 – 8 a.m to 1:30 p.m.

The focus of this half-day conference will be on recent changes, current controversies and trends in the emergent care of ill and injured children. The conference includes presentations on fever in infants, infant emergencies, acute asthma exacerbations and maintaining a safe emergency room environment.

Advances in Diagnosis and Treatment of Mediastinal Chest Wall and Pleural Tumors - November 6, 2007

The 4th annual half-day symposium in thoracic oncology will review current trends and advances in the early detection, diagnosis and treatment of mediastinal, chest wall and pleural tumors for primary care physicians and all others involved in the care of thoracic (chest) patients. Technological advances will be reviewed along with the best practices of tumor assessment and selection of treatment regimen.

The two symposia are available for continuing medical education credit for physicians. New York Hospital Queens is accredited by the Medical Society of New York State to sponsor continuing medical education.

New York Hospital Queens is a member of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System and affiliated with the Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
