Chaim
Charytan, M.D., is director of the Division of Nephrology. After
receiving his B.A. from Yeshiva University, he trained in Medicine at
Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed the residency in
medicine at Bronx Municipal Hospital and the nephrology fellowship at
Boston University and Boston City Hospitals. As Captain, USAF, he was
Chief, Renal Section Renin and Aldosterone Laboratory.
Dr. Charytan is Adjunct Clinical Professor of Medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. His special interest is in renal dialysis and he functions as Director, Dialysis Units at The New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens. His research interests include nutrition and anemia in patients with chronic renal disease, dialysis adequacy and hypertension.
His contributions to the medical journal literature are voluminous, and he has authored several chapters for textbooks on a variety of topics in nephrology. Dr. Charytan sits on a number of local and national nephrologic committees and on the editorial board of several nephrology journals.
Dr. Charytan is certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
