Arrhythmias
of many different types and degrees of severity, affect an estimated 1
in 1,000 Americans. Some cause symptoms that are disturbing but not
life-threatening; others can cause death within minutes.
The Electrophysiology (EP) laboratory is the one of the
only comprehensive adult electrophysiology laboratories in the
county of Queens, equipped with state-of-the-art digital fluoroscopy
equipment designed especially for electrophysiology
procedures.
The Center offers a variety of services to help heart failure patients enjoy a better quality of life. The clinical electrophysiology program offers care to the patient with syncope, and abnormalities of cardiac rhythm including bradyarrhythmias and tachyarrhythmias. The laboratory is equipped with the ability to perform electro-anatomic (biosense) mapping and ablation of cardiac arrhythmias. Other procedures including the In-Sync Resynchronization System, insertion of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators are performed and laser equipment is available for lead extraction of pacemaker & defibrillator leads.
The electrophysiology team is dedicated to decreasing morbidity and improving the quality of life of our patients. Through participation in clinical trials, our specialists attain the experience and knowledge necessary to bring the most current and effective treatments to the arrhythmia patient.
