Flushing, New York - New York Hospital Queens announces the election of three members to its Board of Trustees – Steven Corwin, M.D., Pavlos Mavrides Matos, and Wayne M. Osten. These new trustees join a distinguished group of medical and business leaders.
Steven J. Corwin, M.D. is Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Pavlos Mavrides Matos is a Partner of the Provident Group, a New York based investment bank and alternative asset management firm. Mavrides Matos is also Chief Financial Officer for Provident Group and its registered investment advisor subsidiary, Longship Capital Management. Wayne M. Osten is Senior Vice President and Director of NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System.

Steven J. Corwin, M.D. is Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of NewYork- Presbyterian Hospital, where he is responsible for managing the hospital’s day-to-day activities. A cardiologist and internist by training, Dr. Corwin earned undergraduate and medical degrees from Northwestern University’s six-year combined program. He completed both his Internal Medicine residency and Cardiology training at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.
Dr. Corwin is a member of both the Greater New York Hospital Association Committee on Quality and Outcomes and Committee on Bioterrorism. A recipient of the Hope and Heroes Award, as well as the VHA Award for Clinical Quality, Dr. Corwin is an enthusiastic and innovative leader with an unwavering commitment to high quality and compassionate patient care.
Pavlos Mavrides Matos is a Partner of the Provident Group, a New York based investment bank and alternative asset management firm founded in 1998. Mavrides Matos is Chief Financial Officer for Provident Group and its registered investment advisor subsidiary, Longship Capital Management. In addition to serving as CFO, Mavrides Matos serves on Longship Capital Management’s Investment Committee and oversees Provident Group’s Latin American investment banking business.
Mavrides Matos obtained a J.D. at Columbia Law School and a B.A. at Yale College, and has been actively involved in Hispanic and Latin American focused activities throughout his academic and professional careers. Mavrides Matos is fluent in Spanish, Greek and Portuguese.
Wayne M. Osten is Senior Vice President and Director of NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System, where he is responsible for the development of System strategies with respect to regional, programmatic and health policy matters, and the identification and creation of opportunities for expanding the System’s operational and academic role in health policy, research and education. Osten also maintains the ongoing relationship with the System hospital and nursing home CEOs, senior staff and Board of Director leadership.
Prior to joining the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System, Osten spent most of his career at the New York State Department of Health, where he was responsible for the direction and oversight of health facility regulation in New York State. Osten received his undergraduate degree from Rider University and a master’s degree in public affairs from the State University of New York at Albany.
