HYPOTHERMIA CAN BE LIFE THREATENING. Signals include lower than normal body temperature, shivering, apathy, disorientation, drowsiness and then unconsciousness.
- Move the victim into a warm or sheltered area immediately.
- Check pulse and breathing.
- Get the victim out of wet clothes and replace with dry clothes, sleeping bag or blankets..
- Have the victim drink a warm, non-alcoholic, decaffeinated beverage if possible.
- Send someone to call 911 or seek medical aid..
