Flushing, New York— Marios D. Gagos, D. O., has joined the faculty of the cardiology division at New York Hospital Queens.
Dr. Gagos is a graduate of The State University of New York at Stony Brook, with a degree in pharmacology. He received his medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, and served his residency and cardiology fellowship at Winthrop University Hospital. He has a special interest in nuclear cardiology and is pursuing an MBA degree from New York Institute of Technology.
Dr. Gagos has been involved in medical research since his training as a cardiologist, when he won several awards including the Outstanding Achievement in Medical Research Award at Winthrop University Hospital as well as Internal Medicine Resident of the Year.
Studies in which he has participated have been published notable journals including the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and he has presented at the annual scientific meeting of the American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Gagos is a member of the Hellenic medical society and has been actively involved in the Greek-American community. In 2004, he was a volunteer medical assistant at the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. In his new position at NYHQ, he will play an important role in promoting optimal cardiovascular health and care for the Greek-American community.
New York Hospital Queens is a member of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System and is affiliated with Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
