More Pediatric Patients Are Heading To Cyberspace

Friday, August 10, 2007

EVENT: Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation – through a generous donation by the Bandai Foundation – is providing five of their signature PC Pals (loaded interactive laptops) to the Pediatrics Department of New York Hospital Queens. Live Power Rangers (from the Bandai America product line) will also be on hand, at an unveiling event, to greet and interact with pediatric patients in attendance.

This is a great opportunity for photos and interviews.

WHEN: Thursday, August 16, 2007, 9:45 a.m.

WHERE: New York Hospital Queens - Pediatrics Department
56-45 Main Street, Flushing, NY 11355
(Entrance in main lobby on Booth Memorial Avenue)

FYI: Hospitalization for children and teens can be an isolating experience, as it is hard to keep in touch with family and friends, and keep up with schoolwork. Providing a high-tech solution to the loneliness and fear often associated with a hospital stay, PC Pals offer a variety of entertaining and educational software, including Internet access, email and instant messaging.

Having access to the opportunities offered by a PC Pal helps raise a pediatric patients’ spirits, distract them from their pain, and provide them with a sense of community.

New York Hospital Queens is a member of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System and is an affiliate of Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
