New York Hospital Queens Announces Growth of Cardiovascular Services Division

Expansion of Medical Staff Reflects Growing Community Need

Flushing, New York - This month, New York Hospital Queens welcomes five new cardiovascular physicians to its Heart and Vascular Center. The expansion of this cardiovascular team reflects the continuous community growth and ongoing need for high level heart and vascular services close to home for Queens residents.
The following board-certified physicians cumulatively bring 100 years of expertise in patient care, clinical research and teaching to our Heart and Vascular Center:

* Chong H. Park, M.D., F.A.C.C. - Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, Acting Director of the Cardiology Fellowship Program
Triple board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology, Dr. Park comes to New York Hospital Queens from Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where he served as a full-time attending cardiologist. Dr. Park earned his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his medical degree from New York Medical College in 1996. He completed his fellowships in interventional cardiology and clinical cardiology at North Shore University Hospital.

* George J. Juang, M.D., F.A.C.C. - Director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Laboratory
Triple board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology, Dr. Huang come to New York Hospital Queens from Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he served as Director of Electrophysiology. Dr. Huang achieved his undergraduate degree from Harvard College and his medical degree from University of Chicago in 1994. He completed his fellowships in cardiac electrophysiology and cardiology at Johns Hopkins University.

* Vivien Lim, M.D., F.A.C.C. - Attending Physician, Non-Invasive Cardiology
Triple board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and nuclear cardiology, Dr. Lim comes to New York Hospital Queens following private practice in Queens and Long Island. Dr. Lim earned her undergraduate degree from Purdue University and her medical degree from University of Connecticut in 1999. She completed her fellowship in cardiology at the University of Connecticut- Hartford Hospital.

* Charu N. Sharma, M.D., F.A.C.C. - Attending Physician, Non-Invasive Cardiology
Double board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, Dr. Sharma comes to New York Hospital Queens from Metropolitan Hospital Center in Manhattan. Dr. Sharma achieved her medical degree from Seth G.S. Medical College and King Edward Memorial Hospital in Bombay, India, in 1975. She completed her fellowship in cardiology at Wayne State University.

* Andrew M. Grunwald, M.D., F.A.C.C. - Attending Physician, Interventional Cardiology
Double board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, Dr. Grunwald has held faculty positions at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Grunwald earned his undergraduate degree from Williams College in Massachusetts and his medical degree from New York Medical College in 1975. He completed his fellowship at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

New York Hospital Queens began using a new model for Cardiovascular Services Division this month. This new model was developed to be more inclusive of both faculty and voluntary physicians, who practice throughout the community. In the next several weeks, the hospital expects to introduce more additions to the faculty.

From state-of-the-art techniques and technology, to the most sophisticated procedures and comprehensive rehabilitation and wellness programs, the Heart and Vascular Center at New York Hospital Queens offers a higher level of care for the patients of Queens.
