Flushing, New York, April 14, 2009 – New York Hospital Queens is working on improving its Web site, www.nyhq.org, for its patients and visitors. The hospital is looking for volunteers from the Queens community to share their opinions on how they prefer to navigate through a hospital Web site.
“A hospital’s Web site is used primarily as a tool for people who have loved ones at the hospital or for those who have scheduled surgery, procedures or testing,” said Cynthia Bacon, Director of Public Affairs and Marketing. “To make our hospital Web site more accessible for the multicultural population that we serve, we will make the Web site available in Chinese, Korean and Spanish—the most widely spoken foreign languages by patients at our hospital.”
Volunteers are being asked to give their candid and honest opinions on the Web site at group feedback sessions being held at the hospital. The feedback session is one hour long. The hospital address is 56-45 Main Street (at Booth Memorial Avenue), Flushing, NY 11355. Volunteers do not need any special skills, however, some experience using the Internet is requested.
There will be several feedback sessions conducted in English, Chinese and Korean in late April/early May. Sessions will be held during day and evening hours to accommodate a wide variety of schedules. Feedback sessions are open to Queens residents only, New York Hospital Queens employees or affiliated staff may not apply as volunteers for feedback sessions.
If you are interested in participating, please send an email to nlinkon@greystone.net. Greystone is the consulting firm assisting New York Hospital Queens with their Web site project.
New York Hospital Queens is a member of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System and is affiliated with Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
