New York Hospital Queens Names Dr. Jeffrey Rosen as New Chairman of Department of Orthopaedics

rosen_davidFlushing, New York - This week Jeffrey Rosen, M.D., joined New York Hospital Queens as Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation.

Dr. Rosen comes to this position with 16 years of experience, including most recently his leadership positions at New York University School of Medicine as assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and as Director of Child and Adolescent Sports Medicine at New York University-Hospital for Joint Diseases.

“As the population ages nationally and in Queens, the demand for orthopaedic surgery and access to rehabilitation programs is accelerating at a rapid pace. Access to a high quality program is crucial for the people of Queens,” said Stephen S. Mills, President and Chief Executive Officer. “We are very fortunate to have an experienced clinician like Dr. Rosen as a new leader of our team.”

Dr. Rosen is board-certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and fellowship trained in sports medicine. Over nearly two decades, Dr. Rosen has developed a special interest in the treatment of disorders of the knee and shoulder, as well as arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery. His research studies range from non-surgical treatment for arthritis and degenerative joint disease to MRI imaging for the evaluation sports-related injuries.

“New York Hospital Queens has a team of orthopaedic surgeons and physical therapists who serve the community with skill and expertise; it is our plan to build upon that foundation and further expand its programs for orthopaedic trauma, sports medicine and spinal injury,” said Dr. Rosen.

Dr. Rosen completed his undergraduate education at University of Pennsylvania and earned his medical degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City.  He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Hospital for Joint Diseases-Orthopedic Institute in New York and received fellowship training at the world-renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles.

Dr. Rosen has served as team physician or consultant for professional sports teams and performance groups.  These include the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Angels, the Anaheim Ducks, the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, De La Guarda Dance Company, and Broadway shows “Wicked” and “Fame Becomes Me.”

New York Hospital Queens is a member of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System and is affiliated with Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
