Flushing, New York - The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development formally announced that New York Hospital Queens has received approval to add two floors to a five-story wing currently under construction. The hospital has now received all necessary federal, state and local approvals to amend its plan for a five-story wing, by adding two floors. The approval to add two additional floors to the new wing does not change the number of new beds (80) approved in the hospital’s current building program.
Expected to open in 2010, the new wing will add capacity to this thriving community teaching hospital to serve the fast-growing population of the surrounding community, and continue to provide residents with access to high quality healthcare close to home. As well, the new wing will enable the hospital to aggregate and expand high-demand services, such as cardiovascular and ambulatory surgery facilities.
The hospital building program includes a three-level parking garage adjacent to the main campus. The parking garage with two levels below ground and one at street level is expected to open near the end of 2008.
New York Hospital Queens is a member of the New York-Presbyterian Healthcare System and affiliated with Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
