Flushing, New York - Debra Doudounis, RN, a nurse on 6 South, has been selected as the March Employee of the Month for New York Hospital Queens.
A resident of Bellrose, Queens, Ms. Doudounis joined our hospital in September 1985. She is a member of the hospital’s nursing council and a delegate for the 6 South nursing unit.
Ms. Doudounis is responsible for the nursing care and comfort of patients on the 6 South neurology/orthopaedics nursing unit. She views her role as an advocate for patients and works with all departmental services to assist in the care of patients to make their hospital stay a pleasant and comfortable experience.
“What I enjoy most is the interaction I have with the patients,” said Ms. Doudounis.
A panel of professional and support staff selected Ms. Doudounis because in their words, “She epitomizes quality nursing care. She goes above and beyond the call of duty. She is a team player and is always willing to participate in projects to enhance patient care and staff satisfaction. Ms. Doudounis is an asset to New York Hospital Queens.”
Ms. Doudounis is married and has three children. She loves spending her spare time with her family. Ms. Doudounis has held several positions for her children’s parent-teacher association. She also serves as a block captain for her civic association.
