Flushing, New York - Donna Swanson, Ward Clerk in the Acute Care of the Elderly Department, has been selected as July Employee of the Month. A resident of College Point, Mrs. Swanson joined our hospital in January 2007.
Mrs. Swanson is responsible for receiving phone calls, assisting nurses and aides, and most importantly, helping patients and families feel comfortable. She always tries to lend a hand whether it is helping patients with requests or simply offering a smile to bring happiness to her co-workers.
A panel of professional and support staff selected Swanson because, in their words, “She is the epitome of what we want in our staff. Donna’s cheerful demeanor is contagious. She is endlessly pleasant and helpful to all she meets—patients, family, and medical staff.”
Mrs. Swanson said she is just doing her job. “I like to create a happy workplace for everybody,” she said. “I work with wonderful people, and I enjoy working here.”
Swanson is happily married to her husband, Richie, and has a fifteen-year-old daughter. She is an avid boater and loves skiing.
