Flushing, NY - Karen Riley, Unit Clerk on a medical and surgical patient care unit, was selected as July Employee of the Month for New York Hospital Queens. A resident of Franklin Square, Riley began her career at the hospital in May 1991. She is responsible for day-to-day administrative activities and serves as an information source for patient and family inquiries.
A panel of professional and support staff selected Riley because in their words, “She is always in a good mood, and is enthusiastic, polite and courteous to everyone she encounters-- staff, patients and visitors. Ms. Riley takes her job very seriously and is consistently thorough in her work. No task is ever too big or small. She is always on time and never misses a day.”
“In my position, everyday is a great learning experience since I’m always interacting with patients and their families,” said Ms. Riley.
In her spare time, Ms. Riley enjoys reading, tennis and spending time with her family. She has been married to her husband, Terry, for 33 years and has two daughters and a grandson, Landon.
