Flushing, NY - Loretta Williams, lead respiratory therapist for the Respiratory Disease Management Unit (RDMU), was selected as June Employee of the Month for New York Hospital Queens. A resident of Cambria Heights, Williams began her career at the hospital in May 2000, and is responsible for the care and management of patients on mechanical ventilators.
A panel of professional and support staff selected Williams because in their words, “she is an extraordinary therapist who is compassionate, diligent and renders the highest level of care to the patients on mechanical ventilators. Ms. Williams is very skilled at liberating patients from mechanical ventilators and is a calming influence on concerned patients and anxious family members. She is professional at all times, polite and is respected and loved by all her co-workers.”
“I really enjoy my job and attribute much of that to working with the staff in my unit and the close bond I form with patients and their families,” said Williams. “Each time I interact with a patient, I believe they become more comfortable with me.”
In her spare time, Williams enjoys gardening. She is very proud of her son, Derrell, who recently served in the U.S. Armed Forces in Iraq.
