Flushing, NY - Valerie Sopher, RN, in the Ambulatory Surgery Unit, has been selected as New York Hospital Queens’ March Employee of the Month. A resident of Long Island City, Sopher began her career at the hospital in 1991.
Sopher works in the ambulatory same-day surgery unit where she is responsible for admitting and overall care of patients when they have surgery.
A panel of professional and support staff selected Ms. Sopher because in their words, “she is a very competent nurse who is caring and compassionate with patients. She never says no when you ask her for assistance, even if she is busy. The patients, especially the children, appear calmer when she is around.”
“I like to provide each patient with an optimal level of care,” said Sopher. “I believe the high-quality treatment a patient receives can make a difference in their surgical experience.”
In her spare time, Sopher enjoys sports and proudly shows her pride as a New York Yankees fan. She also enjoys listening to the diversity of music stemming from the music scene in Austin, Texas.
