New York Hospital Queens Welcomes New Attending Radiation Oncologist to The Cancer Center

chang_hyesookFlushing, New York - Hyesook Chang, MD, PhD, recently joined the Department of Radiation Oncology at The Cancer Center at New York Hospital Queens as an attending radiation oncologist. She brings to the hospital more than 25 years of clinical, teaching and research experience. She is currently an Associate Professor of Radiology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University.

Before joining New York Hospital Queens, Dr. Chang was an attending radiation oncologist at the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, NY, and at United Health Services Hospital in Johnson City, NY. Prior to those posts, she had served as an attending radiation oncologist at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston and Chairperson of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Asan Medical Center in Seoul, Korea.

Dr. Chang earned her medical degree from Seoul National University in Seoul. In addition, she also achieved a doctorate degree from the Yonsei University College of Medicine in Seoul. Dr. Chang completed her residency in radiation oncology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.

She has held several academic appointments, including Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the college of Medicine of Ulsan University in Seoul and Clinical Associate Professor at the SUNY Upstate Medical School.

Dr. Chang has been a contributing author for more than 100 peer-reviewed publications. She has served in numerous professional organizations, including as Vice President of the Korean Association for Radiation Protection, and member of the Radiation Research Society, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology.

New York Hospital Queens is a member of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System and affiliated with Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
