Flushing, New York - Debra Pagano Cohen has joined New York Hospital Queens as Director, Community and Government Affairs in its Public Affairs and Marketing Office.
Ms. Cohen joins the hospital from St. John’s Queens Hospital where she served in several different capacities including Director of Communications for the past 12 years. During her career Ms. Cohen also worked as a registered nurse in the critical care area and as a professor for nursing at Queensborough Community College. She has served in a variety of community capacities including as president of the 110th Precinct Community Council and as a board member on Community Board #4. She has received numerous awards for her community work in Queens from the NYPD, Queens Borough President, New York City Council and the Queens District Attorney’s office.
Ms. Cohen will be an integral part of the ongoing expansion of the hospital’s public affairs and marketing operation led by Vice President Camela Morrissey. Her core responsibilities include working with community and government leaders as well as community-based organizations.
Ms. Cohen is looking forward to working with the diverse groups that make the area surrounding the hospital so vibrant. “I am impressed by the level of commitment that New York Hospital Queens has for the community as well as the support that the community gives to the hospital, its staff and its patients.” My door will always be open to ensure that the dialogue continues and grows,” she said.
New York Hospital Queens is a member of the New York-Presbyterian Healthcare System and an affiliate of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
