Fresh Meadows site to open in response to increased patient volume

EVENT: New York Hospital Queens will cut a ribbon to open a new 7,200-square-foot Center for Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation Medicine.

WHEN: Monday, June 29, 2009, at 5 p.m.

WHERE:  NYHQ Center for Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation Medicine
163-03 Horace Harding Expressway
2nd Floor
Fresh Meadows, NY 11365

BACKGROUND: In response to a significant increase in patient volume, NYHQ will open a new building to house an expansion of services for its Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation. The new NYHQ Center for Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation Medicine will provide all musculoskeletal care, including orthopaedics, physiatry and rehabilitation, all in one convenient location. The new patient care center will house the practices of three board certified orthopaedic surgeons, a digital x-ray machine, a full range of physical therapy services and occupational therapy services.
This new Fresh Meadows site expands critical physical medicine and rehabilitation services into the community in an effort to provide a higher level of orthopaedic and rehabilitative care right here in Queens. Administrative offices, inpatient physical and occupational therapy, and orthopaedic ambulatory clinics will remain on the hospital’s main campus.
Currently, the department is seeing an average of 30 to 50 more patients per month from over a year ago. The new facility will provide close to home, accessible space and resources for these patients.
