Friday, November 30, 2007

Flushing, New York - Kathleen Parnell Magdich, M.S., R.N., Nurse Educator, was honored for her compassionate approach to patient care by The HealthCare Chaplaincy"s Wholeness of Life Awards Dinner recently at Cipriani 42nd St. in Manhattan.

Ms. Magdich was among 13 patient care professionals, from The Chaplaincy"s partner institutions, who were bestowed with gold medallions and recognized with personal citations on stage. Ms. Magdich was nominated by her colleagues to receive this honor.

Over 550 people attended this "Gathering of Friends” annual black tie benefit to recognize and celebrate the dedication and accomplishments of those who represent The Chaplaincy"s core mission, to care for the whole person—spirit, mind, and body.

"Nurses are uniquely inspiring; the compassion and kindness they impart emerges from their intuitive ability to envision themselves in their patients,” said Ms. Magdich.

The Chaplaincy partners with many diverse healthcare institutions throughout the New York region, providing patients, their loved ones, and staff with essential spirit-centered care, multifaith services, and supportive counsel to help foster total well-being. New York Hospital Queens has been a Chaplaincy partner since 1993.
