The Division of Ophthalmology at New York Hospital Queens is in the forefront of the latest developments in ophthalmology and is uniquely equipped by virtue of its general and subspecialty staff to provide state of the art care in every field of ophthalmology.

We have a broad spectrum of outstanding subspecialists on staff who have received their fellowship training at prestigious teaching centers from around the United States. Specialties include cornea, glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology, ophthalmic plastic surgery, pediatric ophthalmology and motility, refractive surgery and vitreo-retina.

Our ambulatory surgery unit has two ophthalmology rooms equipped with the latest in eye microscopes and irrigation-aspiration phacoemulsification equipment.

Our ophthalmic surgeons use the latest techniques in cataract extraction and implant surgery including:

  • phacoemulsification
  • small incision surgery
  • no stitch surgery
  • no needle surgery

The Ambulatory Eye Care Center is equipped with the newest instrumentation including Humphrey visual field analyzer, corneal pachymeter, Heidelberg Retina Tomograph II, fluorescein angiography, and argon and YAG lasers, allowing us to provide state of the art care for glaucoma and retina patients.

Emergency eye care is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The hospital emergency room and the Ambulatory Care Unit are staffed by ophthalmology residents and attending ophthalmologists from New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center.
