About the Program
- The Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology residency program at NYHQ is a three-year program.
- The Oral Pathology Residency Program is designed to train the post-graduate student in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology in a manner similar to that of the medical general pathology resident. Residents are trained to be strong surgical oral pathologists, lecturers, and clinicians in clinical oral pathology and oral medicine and learn basic research skills.
- The small student to faculty ratio allows for individual and small group slide review and study sessions.
- The unique hospital-oriented perspective also exposes the resident to different career possibilities in oral pathology.

Application
All applicants must be graduates of American or Canadian dental schools.
Clinical Research Activities
New York Hospital Queens has a widely diverse patient population providing the residents with exposure to a large variety of clinical entities, thereby presenting the residents with unique clinical-pathologic research opportunities. Additionally, the Oral Pathology Laboratory, Inc. has greater than 300,000 archived cases available for study and research projects. Every resident chooses a topic for a 3-year residency thesis. It is expected that the resident will complete the research and produce a publishable paper before completion of the program. Each of our residents has had their papers published in scientific journals. Additional research opportunities are available through the research facility at New York University School of Dentistry.
