Here at New York Hospital Queens, we have created a program addressing the entire spectrum of orthopaedic needs - both surgical and nonsurgical - for our community. If surgery is needed, we utilize minimally invasive techniques whenever possible. Due to the depth and breadth of services this program offers, we are quickly building a reputation as the “Bone and Joint Hospital of Queens.”
The program staff includes a growing team of full-time physicians as well as voluntary attending orthopaedic surgeons. The faculty is trained in general orthopaedic surgery, with specialties in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, joint replacement, trauma, orthopaedic spine, hand and upper extremity and hip resurfacing. This practice provides a full range of affordable, world-class healthcare services right here in Queens.
We are a UnitedHealth Premium® specialty centers program, which is a designation program focused on total joint replacement. Our facility has been identified and recognized for our commitment to quality health care. We are also an Aetna Institute of Quality® (IOQ) for Orthopaedic Surgery for Total Joint Replacement. This designation is based on measures of clinical performance, access and efficiency for orthopedic care.
We utilize arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, knee, hand, and ankle. Among the surgeries we offer are joint resurfacing and minimally invasive hip surgeries. NYHQ is the only hospital in Long Island and Queens, and one of only three sites nationwide, to offer patients the HemiCAP(R) Focal Resurfacing system, an investigational procedure designed to repair injured knee cartilage while protecting healthy cartilage to help prevent further damage. Outside the United States the system has been approved and available for over six years. This minimally invasive resurfacing system offers patients an alternative to total knee replacement and can be an advantage to younger patients with arthritic problems and older, active adults.
