The New York Hospital Queens Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy (OPAT Unit) is a convenient support service for patients, hospital medical staff and community-based physicians.

Who can use OPAT:

Ambulatory patients and outpatients requiring once-daily intravenous antibiotics. NYHQ case managers, knowledgeable about a patient’s care plan, insurance coverage and discharge situation, make referrals to the new unit. In addition, physicians may refer patients through consultation with a member of the Infectious Disease team.

Why use OPAT:

The OPAT Unit is intended to reduce length of stay, hospital acquired infections, and improve the quality of life for patients and families in situations when a patient is ready to return home but continues to need once-daily intravenous antibiotics.

Where is OPAT:

Room 337 North Building (next to Green Elevators); enter hospital through main lobby and reception area. Parking is free for outpatients (or a designated family member driving the patient to the appointment).

When is OPAT open:

Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Is OPAT covered by health insurance:
