Patients to Celebrate 30 Years of Managing Chronic Kidney Disease

Wednesday, November 22, 2006

Event: New York Hospital Queens celebrates the 30 years since its Trude Weishaupt Memorial Satellite Dialysis Center in Fresh Meadows opened its doors. To mark the occasion, New York Hospital Queens is hosting a reception for patients, employees and the community.

When: Sunday, December 3, 2006 at 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Where: Terrace on the Park
             52-11 111th St, Flushing, NY

Invitees: Our longstanding patients, local elected officials, Dialysis Center doctors, nurses, staff, and hospital administrators are expected to attend. Patients and doctors will reflect upon the Center’s 30-year impact on their lives.

Background: One in nine Americans has chronic kidney disease. Since the Dialysis Center opened in 1976, its doctors and nurses have provided thousands of patients with hemodialysis and home peritoneal dialysis treatment for kidney disease.

According to the latest studies, the survival rate of patients at the NYHQ center is 32 percent higher than average. Compared to other facilities, our patients are also admitted to the hospital less often and have lower rates of infection.
