About the Program
NYHQ offers a 3-year full-time residency program in prosthodontics. The program is fully-accredited and, upon completion, the participant is qualified to apply for certification in prosthodontics by the American Board of Prosthodontics.
About the Director
Dr. Frank Tuminelli is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. He received his DMD and Certificate in Prosthodontics from Farleigh Dickinson University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Tuminelli holds Fellowship in numerous professional societies and has lectured nationally on the subject of Prosthodontics and Implant restorations.
Application
Applicants must provide the following information:
- A completed application form, PASS (and any application fees)
- A DMD or DDS degree
- Completion of a one-year GPR or equivalent
- Most recent official dental school transcript
- Official copies of National Board Scores
- Three letters of recommendation
- A statement about yourself, your reasons for wanting to continue your education/attend our institution and how you perceive the future of Prosthetic Dentistry
- A curriculum vitae
- $50 application fee
The application deadline is September 1st of each year with admission the following July. Applicants will not be considered for an interview until all of the above items have been received and the application is complete.
Implantology
Dental implants have been placed and restored since 1973 under faculty training. The knowledge of the physiology and the restorative techniques necessary for the diverse types of implants is a critical objective. The student explores the range of implant modalities and their specific clinical applications through extensive participation and treatment.
The Post-Graduate Prosthodontics and Implant Center program provide the highest clinical and academic standards of care for the community.
Esthetic Dentistry
Newer adhesive tooth-colored materials offer attractive options for esthetic restorations and technical proficiency.
Fixed Partial Denture Prosthesis
The ability to treatment plan and construct a fixed prosthesis and to recognize its effect on the periodontium, the abutment teeth and the opposing teeth is a primary goal. The materials for fabrication of fixed prostheses and the types of abutment retainers will be analyzed. The various philosophies of occlusion are experienced when making prostheses through the use of the appropriate instrumentation.
Complete Denture Prostheses
The skills to develop complete dentures for patients with extensive structural, physiological or emotional deficiencies is an important mission. This will be taught through the treatment of patients with increasing levels of complexity and by utilizing techniques that are formulated to address those problems.
