Queens College President to Discuss Ethical Dilemmas in New York Hospital Queens Workshop

WHO: James Muyskens, PhD, President of Queens College, CUNY, and ethics scholar, will make a special presentation to New York Hospital Queens managers about ethical responsibilities in business and healthcare.

WHAT: The workshop will touch on the numerous ethical/moral issues found in our professional and personal lives, including those encountered in a hospital setting. Some issues involve decisions such as deciding triage order or the best course of action for a particular patient. Others are more global questions such as the appropriate involvement of a human being in a particular research study. The workshop is part of the hospital’s corporate college curriculum and represents an ongoing effort to provide support for the ethical dilemmas faced by healthcare providers on a daily basis.

FYI: NYHQ was one of the first healthcare organizations in the country to create a corporate college. Known as New York Hospital Queens College, this core educational resource serves the hospital’s more than 3,000 hospital employees. Many of the courses are taught by the faculty of Queens College with whom the hospital’s College has formed a partnership.
