1.1 In order to be eligible for appointment to one of New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens’ ACGME sponsored residency or fellowship programs, applicants must be Graduates of medical schools in the United States or Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
Graduates of colleges of osteopathic medicine in the United States accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
Graduates of medical schools outside the United States and Canada who meet one of the following qualifications:
have received a currently valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) prior to appointment, or, have a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. licensing jurisdiction in which they are training.
Graduates of medical schools outside the United States who have completed a Fifth Pathway program provided by an LCME-accredited medical school.
2.1 All first year residency positions and 1st year fellowship positions should be offered through the National Residency Matching Program.
Each ACGME sponsored program must have an eligibility and selection policy and procedure.
The policy and procedure should ensure that residents and fellows are selected on the basis of program related criteria such as: their preparedness, ability, aptitude, academic credentials, communication skills, and personal qualities such as motivation and integrity.
