Our pediatric patients really enjoy pet therapy. When they
hear a dog is coming, they ask for a visit. It can
sometimes be a challenge trying to get a child to smile while in the
hospital. Not so anymore.
As soon as children see our pet therapists, smiles erupt. The pet therapy program has had a postive impact in our patients-- psychologically, emotionally and physically. It has been an exciting addition to our Child Life Program.
PG the Clown is donated to us by Starlight Children's Foundation. The
pediatric patients really enjoy his visits, he does magic with our
patients of all ages.
Our children's units are also transformed every month when visited by Kathy Lord and Susan Weber from Music that Heals. Their time is donated by HAI, Inc. and Starlight Children's Foundation. Their melodic voices are heard on the pediatric unit and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Our Child Life Program celebrates the holidays with our pediatric patients. We create an environment that feels like a slice of normalcy. We like to make sure children never miss celebrating a holiday. For an added measure of fun, we have introduced children to newer, more obscure holidays, such as Barbie's birthday and National Pencil Day.

Our pediatric patients also have time just to be kids. Our Child Life playrooms, contain art activities, toys, board games, books and other items that livens up a child's experience while at the hospital.
