 The Cataract Service

Eye lens opacities ("cataracts"), are among the most common causes of vision compromise. Together with corneal problems, they make up the bulk of so-called "anterior segment" diseases, and are a major focus at Queens Eye Center.

All that is needed to discover cataracts and to treat them in the most up to date way can be found at our Center. Sophisticated equipment allows our doctors to accurately measure the eye in anticipation of surgical treatment, and also empowers them to see associated problems in the vitreous and retina that would normally be hidden from view by a dense cataract.

The conveniently located ambulatory surgery facilities at New York Hospital Queens provide a comfortable and fully-equipped location for the performance of our cataract procedures. Patients are discharged from the unit on the same day, and most can be treated through the use of topical anesthesia alone.
