Taking our patients from infancy to adulthood,
we provide all forms of Pediatric eye care at Queens Eye Center.
The Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at New York Hospital
Queens presents Eye Center doctors with a large number of infants
in need of special care. We often use diagnostic ultrasound to
detect congenital eye problems, and we regularly treat tiny "preemies"
for "retinopathy of prematurity" (using state-of-the-art
laser techniques).
Strabismus ("crossed eyes") is an important entity
on any Pediatric Eye Service, and we have a particular interest
and expertise in the extraocular muscle surgery that many of these
children need. As part of our comprehensive service, we screen
large numbers of children for amblyopias ("lazy eye"),
and we also perform school vision exams. |
