The Gastroenterology Division in the Department of Medicine offers a full complement of consultative, diagnostic and therapeutic services to the New York Hospital Queens community. The talented, dedicated professionals of the Gastroenterology Division provide advanced, high quality services to Queens and greater New York community.

Complementing the faculty are 52 voluntary attending physicians with a range of subspecialty talents who are active members of the Gastroenterology Division and have private offices throughout the area.
In 2006, a state-of-the-art six room endoscopy unit offering a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic services was opened. The endoscopy unit is managed by Ruth Hopkins, R.N., and is staffed by a superb collection of nurses, technicians and nursing assistants.
In addition to routine colonoscopy and upper endoscopy examinations, gastroenterologists both on the faculty and in private practice have access to the most sophisticated and up-to-date equipment available including:

The Gastroenterology Division proudly offers an ACGME certified Fellowship training program and currently has three top flight postgraduate fellows.
The Center or Digestive Diseases and Swallowing Disorders specializes in coordinated patient care, education and research that can only be accomplished through interdisciplinary team involvement. Our team consists of specialists from all areas of medicine including speech-language pathology, gastroenterology (adult and pediatric), radiology, nutrition, otolaryngology, thoracic surgery, pulmonology and neurology.
