We welcome the newest member of our team, Elan M. Goldwyn, M.D., a
trauma expert who trained in the treatment of polytrauma
due to severe injuries. Dr. Goldwyn is treating patients with
osteomyelitis, severe fractures (nonunions and malunions) as well as
those in need of pelvis and acetabular surgery and post-traumatic
deformity reconstruction.
Dr. Goldwyn joins us having completed his Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Goldwyn brings this training and expertise to the complex treatment needs stemming from our Level I trauma center, which services the entire Queens community.
After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, Dr. Goldwyn received his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. From 2004 to 2009, he trained in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Additionally, he has studied the advanced principles and techniques of operative fracture management. In 2008, Dr. Goldwyn served as a physician volunteer for the Pediatric Orthopedic Mission for Health Education Relief in Guyana and is a physician volunteer for the New York City Medical Reserve Corps.

Dr. Goldwyn had developed a special interest in treating multiply-injured patients, injuries to the pelvis and acetabulum, post-traumatic reconstruction, and minimally-invasive fracture surgery. His research interests range from diagnostic imaging of wrist fractures to surgical treatment of tibia fractures.
