Planning Ahead for your Postoperative Needs

Cryotherapy (Cold Therapy)
If recommended by your surgeon, cryotherapy (cold therapy) will be ordered for you and delivered to you in the recovery room following your surgery. The distributor will contact you within the week before your surgery to explain determination of coverage by your insurance company.

First Postoperative Appointment
Your surgeon’s office will make your first postoperative appointment at the time they contact you with your PAT date. Please remember to write it down on the last page of this booklet and in your personal calendar.

Braces/Crutches/Canes
A Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) will give you your cane/ crutches and cane/crutches-training on the day of PAT. Please report to the inpatient Physical Therapy (PT) gym upon completion of your pre-admission testing. A brace, if recommended by your surgeon, will be given in the recovery room following surgery.
