Over the past several years, the Center for Dental and Oral Medicine has
enlarged its general practice training program through federal grant
awards. These grants have also assisted the department in its efforts to
expand services to the community.
Since 1977, the Center has received over thirty federal grant awards,
totaling close to five million dollars. The grants permit it to expand
services to the Queens community. The Center for Dental and Oral
Medicine has also been an annual recipient of the Ryan White funding
program for oral health care for HIV and AIDS patients. The department
works with the economically deprived, the medically compromised, and the
physically challenged. The department's goal is to offer the very best
residency training in dentistry, delivering affordable, state-of-the-art
dental care, and providing outreach to an under-served population.
