Message from the Chairman, Dr. Pierre F. Saldinger

  About Dr. Saldinger:


Pierre F. Saldinger, MD, FACS is the Chairman of the Department of Surgery  and Surgeon-in-Chief at NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens. He is also a professor of Clinical Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College.

Dr. Saldinger joined NYP/Queens from Danbury Hospital in Connecticut where he served as chairman of the department of surgery and program director of the surgical residency. He was a professor of clinical surgery at the University of  Vermont College of Medicine and previously held an appointment at Harvard Medical School. A distinguished and well publish surgeon he has expertise in the surgical treatment of cancer and benign disorders of the pancreas, liver, gallbladder, bile ducts and stomach. He earned his medical degree Switzerland’s University of Basel, School of medicine and completed a residency in general surgery at Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston and a clinical fellowship in hepatobiliary surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Dr. Saldinger has lectured nationally and internationally on surgery of the pancreas, bile duct and liver as well as on surgical quality improvement.

Dr. Saldinger is a member of many prestigious societies including the Society of Surgical Oncology and the Society of University Surgeons and a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery.
