PUBLIC NOTICE: Spoofing Phone Calls Using NYHQ Main Number

Beginning yesterday, the telephone operators at New York Hospital Queens have had reports of some people in Queens, and in other parts of the country, receiving calls requesting personal information – and the main number for NYHQ (718-670-2000) shows up as the caller ID.  These calls are not coming from New York Hospital Queens.  If you have received a suspicious-seeming call from this number and were asked for personal information, please note:

  • That call did not come from New York Hospital Queens.  The police and other authorities are investigating right now. We think that someone has used technology to use the hospital’s phone number and is making these calls from another location.   However, no patient information has been taken, or been compromised.
  • If you didn’t provide any personal information to the caller, you do not have to worry, but you may want to alert the police that you got one of these calls.
  • If you did provide personal information to the caller, such as: your Social Security Number, any bank account numbers, credit card numbers or passwords, we recommend that you contact your local police department immediately.  The local police will help you, as they are helping the hospital.   You may also want to contact the three major credit bureaus and learn how to have a ‘watch’ put on your credit report for signs of any fraudulent activity.
  • Here is the and contact information of those 3 credit bureaus:
