Fellowship in Infectious Diseases

The Dr. James J. Rahal, Jr. Division of Infectious Diseases Fellowship Training Program at New York Hospital Queens is fully accredited by the ACGME. Our mission is to prepare trainees for clinical practice, teaching and clinical investigation of problems in pathogenesis, diagnosis, epidemiology and treatment of human adult infectious diseases. We are dedicated to training the next generation of infectious diseases clinicians and clinical researchers. The division has trained fellows since 1988 under the direction of Dr. James J. Rahal, Jr. until his death in 2011. The division continues to train fellows under Dr. Sorana Segal-Maurer. Trainees are prepared to teach medical students, residents, and practicing physicians the fundamentals of infectious diseases. There are four fellowship positions, two at the PGY-4 level and two at the PGY-5 level.

Dr. Sorana Segal-Maurer's thoughts on the Infectious Diseases fellowship program: “The fellowship serves to promote enthusiasm of learning and scholarship of a life-long career in infectious diseases through a varied inpatient and outpatient clinical experience, coupled with a strong foundation in clinical investigation.”
