Alexander Golant, M.D.

Golant HeadshotNew York Hospital Queens welcomes Alexander Golant, M.D. to the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. Dr. Golant earned his medical degree from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine, where he was one of the founders and presidents of the U. Penn Medical Student Orthopedic Surgery Society. During his years in medical school, he was awarded the W.L. Croll Scholarship as well as the William Goldman Foundation Scholarship.  He went on to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases, where he was honored to be selected as one of the Executive Chief Residents. Dr. Golant has subsequently completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital and the Nicholas Institute of Sports Medicine and Athletic Trauma (NISMAT) in New York City.  

As of 2009, Dr. Golant has eight published research articles, six articles pending publication and four data collection studies in progress. Dr. Golant has a particular interest in sports medicine. During his fellowship, he provided athletic team and event coverage for the NY Jets, NY Islanders, Hofstra University Athletic Department and the Hunter College Athletic Department. 

Dr. Golant is fluent in Russian. He was born and raised in Moscow, Russia, and moved to the United States at age 13.

Dr. Golant has developed a special interest in the treatment of disorders of the elbow, hip, knee and shoulder, as well as arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery. His research studies range from surgical treatment of meniscal injuries of the knee to sports participation after joint replacement.
