During your stay, the Department of Pastoral Care at NYHQ is concerned about your spiritual needs. Chaplains are available to visit with you, offer prayer and counsel and assist you with your sacramental needs and religious observances. Our Mission

The Department of Pastoral Care affirms the sacredness, dignity and worth of all persons as creatures of God. We acknowledge diversity of both individuals and religious/spiritual traditions. We are committed to the respectful provision of pastoral services/spiritual care to our patients and their families and loved ones with compassion and competence. We will strive to provide these services in collaboration with other disciplines, religious institutions, community groups and others seeking to facilitate healing and wholeness of all persons.

Sacramental Ministries

Roman Catholic-
Holy Communion and Anointing are available upon request. The Eucharist is distributed on Sundays and several times during the week by Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist.
Sunday Mass: 5:30 a.m. on Channel 9 <
Inspiration by Phone: You can hear 3-4 minute homilies based on the scripture reading of the day's mass. Call (718) 670-1047. Available 24 hours a day, ( homilies change daily).

Orthodox Christian, Episcopal, Lutheran-
Sacraments are available upon request.

Jewish Patients
Electric Sabbath candles are available for your use. Please call 670-1114 on Friday before 3:00 p.m.
Kosher meals are available at no extra charge. Please ask your nurse to contact Nutrition Services if you did not indicate your preference upon admission.
A Sabbath apartment may be reserved, pending availability. For further information call 670-1111.

On holy days and special observances, services are announced in the medical center's Information Bulletin which is posted at selected locations. You are encouraged and welcome to participate in these services as allowed by your physician and as your medical condition permits.

If you would like your spiritual leader informed of your hospitalization, we will be pleased to make the contact for you. Please call 670-1114 and tell us your name, room number, name of your faith community and its leader. Our staff will make the contact for you. Your spiritual leader is encouraged to visit you.
