Dr. Lotus Ahmed is an Academic Hospitalist and Core Faculty Member at the Division of Hospital Medicine at New York Hospital Queens (NYHQ) and has been since 2012. She is a graduate from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Ahmed received her undergraduate education at Barnard College and Post Graduate Studies at Columbia University. She is a board certified in Internal Medicine and had her residency training in Internal Medicine at New York Hospital Queens from 2009-2012.
During Dr. Ahmed’s residency training she took an active role in Graduate Medical Education in the Department of Medicine for three years as the designated class representative. She also participated in several quality improvement projects and research projects. As a Hospitalist Attending at NYHQ, her primary focus is on academics. Her current interests within the Division are on medical education, residency training and improving patient care. One of her ongoing projects is mandating that the Hospital Division distribute evidence-based medicine articles on a weekly during rounds pertaining to specific patient cases. She is also in the midst of obtaining IRB approval for several research studies.
