Randazzo Foundation
Since 1986, the Randazzo Foundation has enhanced the quality of
cancer care at The New York Hospital of Queens by bringing
hope, inspiration and physical and emotional comfort to those battling
this disease.
Fueled by the love they still share for their late son, Frank Randazzo
Jr., who died of cancer at the age of 25, the Randazzo family has
sought ways to the lighten the burden of individuals with cancer,
and for their families. |
 |
| Over the years, the Randazzos have directed their
energies into raising funds and applying innovative ideas to help
cancer patients. By organizing and sponsoring benefits including
dinner dance balls, golf outings and a day at the races, the Randazzo
commitment to fundraising activities for the medical oncology programs
at NYHQ has been affirmed time and again.
Since its inception, the Foundation has helped NYHQ to improve
treatment areas for cancer patients, support a van to transport
patients and fund community education workshops. Community programs
underwritten by the Foundation increase the availability and affordability
of care for many individuals. |
Randazzo Foundation contributions to NYHQ include:
- A donation which helped establish the Frank Randazzo
Jr. Memorial Unit, a four-bed treatment area and lounge for cancer
patients
- Initial funding for NYHQ's Frank Randazzo Jr. Cell
Biology Laboratory, in which the medical center conducts research
to study the fundamental mechanisms of cancer- how cancer works
and the most effective treatments to combat the disease
