Admitting Department

The admitting department provides a private setting where patients can meet with an admitting representative to review their demographic and insurance information and discuss what they may expect during the hospital stay. In addition, the admitting representative will present and review the medical center's consent forms and all regulatory information. The department is open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Case Management

The Case Management/Social Work Department assists patients with their hospital stay and discharge arrangements. The department consists of social workers and registered nurse case managers who monitor hospital stay from admission to discharge. The case manager works closely with your attending physician to expedite tests or treatment to prevent unnecessary or prolonged hospitalization. The social worker assists with the patient's placement in a nursing home or rehabilitation facility, if necessary. In addition, social workers provide counseling services for medical center patients and their families. Hours of operation: 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Chemotherapy / Transfusion

NYHQ provides the most advanced care to patients with cancer, anemia, and other hematological conditions or diseases. A component of our comprehensive "Cancer Center," the chemotherapy/transfusion unit offers blood transfusion, chemotherapy, and other blood components to patients on an outpatient basis. Hours of operation: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Health Education Library

The health education library, which contains 500 medical and nursing journal titles and 10,000 monographs and bound volumes, is open to patients and their families through the department of patient relations or any member of the NYHQ health care team. Hours of operation are Mon- Fri, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sat 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sun 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Patient Accounts

This department is responsible for the administration of billing, collection and account maintenance. On-site consultations and evaluations of existing billing policies are offered.

Quality Management

Patient representatives provide information to patients and their families about patient rights and advance directives. Patient representatives respond to patient concerns and serve as the liaison between the patient, family, and members of the health care team. The department is open Mon-Fri, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Office of General Counsel

The office off general counsel is responsible for all patient related questions and concerns regarding advanced directives and consent. The office is open Mon-Fri from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Department of Security

The department of security is responsible for the protection of medical center patients, members of the medical staff, employees, visitors and volunteers. The department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
