Free public event will feature leading physicians and surgeons discussing heart disease prevention and treatment
Flushing, New York, February 8, 2010-- The highlight of Heart Month activities at New York Hospital Queens will be a Heart and Vascular Disease Symposium from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday Feb. 24, at the hospital’s Lang Auditorium.
The symposium, which is free and open to the public, will include presentations to help attendees learn about the latest ways to diagnose, treat and prevent heart and vascular disease.
The presentations will include:
Light refreshments will be provided and free parking is available in the hospital parking facility on Booth Memorial Avenue off Main Street in Flushing. There will be displays, free educational materials and fun gifts provided, and attendees will have the opportunity to talk with women cardiologists about the special heart disease risks that women face.
The symposium is part of an ongoing program of community education sponsored by the NYHQ Heart and Vascular Center.
“We are committed to helping make Queens a ‘heart healthy’ community,” said Dr. Park, “and we feel it is our responsibility to provide educational programs to promote awareness, share information, and help area residents know their risk factors so they can take steps to avoid heart disease.”
