New York Hospital Queens Expands Emergency Room, Tackles Overcrowding

Flushing, NY, June 25, 2012 — Today, New York Hospital Queens (NYHQ) administration and staff, elected officials, the NYS Department of Health and community leaders celebrated the completion of the expanded Emergency Department at NYHQ. The expansion includes 10 additional treatment bays, a new nursing station and the Urgent Care Center (which opened in January).

Both the new emergency area and Urgent Care Center were funded by HEAL-NY (Health Care Efficiency and Affordability Law for New Yorkers), a state grant-funding program that supports the restructuring of New York's health care system. The State Department of Health and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York jointly administer the funding.

New York Hospital Queens is a member of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System and an affiliate of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
